Tai Chi Instructor
This is a golden opportunity! Not only is volunteering good for you, but this role is ESPECIALLY healthy for you! We will provide all of the training you need to become a Tai Chi Instructor. This is a training that can be put to use outside of our program!
We are seeking one community Instructor per community in Nyssa, Vale, and Ontario.
- (1) 12 week session per year – 2 days a week, 1 hour sessions
- Two day training
Mileage reimbursement available.
Meal Site Volunteer
Our meal site teams set up and clean up on meal site days. Not only is this an important activity, contributing to the nutrition and socialization of our local seniors, but as a meal site volunteer you will make meaningful and lasting friendships with other volunteers and the seniors in our community.

Malheur Council on Aging & Community Services relies on a number of unpaid volunteers. Volunteers are the glue that holds our community service organization together. The Senior Services Manager works one-on-one with the volunteer to develop a volunteer position that is rewarding for both the volunteer and the agency. Becoming a volunteer provides an opportunity for you to make new friends, expand your network, and boost your social skills.

These meals are delivered by volunteers through coordination by the local churches. Volunteers deliver nutritious meals to elders who are unable to leave their homes due to illness, disability or frailty.
Senior Advisory Council
The Older Americans Act requires the establishment of an advisory council to advise and advocate for the senior program. Our agency holds meetings every two months.
Office Supportive Services
To assist staff with routine office tasks. Duties include answering the telephone, directing calls and visitors, typing and/or copying.
Volunteer Kitchen Aid
Helps prepare, and serve Senior Meals. Volunteers assist MCOA&CS cook to provide congregate and home delivered meals for the senior community in Malheur County.

From July 1, 2009 to June 30, 2010 we served 8,631 congregate meals and 21, 113 home delivered meals in the cities of Vale, Nyssa, Ontario and the surrounding area. If you love helping others and desire to serve your community, become a volunteer for MCOA&CS.
